The 2005 Pollie Award wins add to a growing list of awards - and political victories - for The Stevens & Schriefer Group.
"Free and Peaceful" -- Television More than 60 seconds: GOLD
Free and Peaceful," a short video for the 2004 Republican National Convention, also won a Gold Award for best television ad - more than 60 seconds. In the video, the President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush speak about spreading freedom to Iraq and Afghanistan, particularly bringing freedom to women and girls, who were repressed under their former regimes.
"Windsurfing" -- Presidential General Election: GOLD
The firm's work for Bush-Cheney '04, Inc. won 4 awards, including a Gold award in the Presidential General Election category for "Windsurfing." The ad showed Kerry windsurfing to the "Blue Danube" waltz while an announcer says Kerry's positions shift "whichever way the wind blows." Previously, the ad was called the best political ad of the year by the Wall Street Journal and Dick Morris dubbed the ad "devastatingly effective."
"Dancing Governor" -- Independent Expenditure State Wide: GOLD
Stevens and Schriefer Group won another Gold award for best Independent Expenditure/Issue Advocacy Statewide TV spot. "Dancing Governor," produced for the Republican Governor's Association, was a humorous take on North Carolina Governor Easley's absence from his job.
"The Pitch" -- Television More than 60 seconds: GOLD
The Stevens & Schriefer Group's work for the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York also nabbed two Gold Awards. "The Pitch" won Best Non-Broadcast Video. "The Pitch," which was the short film that introduced President George W. Bush before he took the stage at Madison Square Garden, was written by former Reagan and Bush speechwriter Peggy Noonan and narrated by former Senator and actor Fred Thompson. In a montage of photographic stills, the President heroically takes the mound at Yankee Stadium after September 11th. "You keep pitching, no matter what," boomed Fred Thompson, in full baritone, "You throw, and you become who you are."
"US Rocks" -- America's Future Rocks Today PSA's: CINE Award
Renowned for the Golden Eagles it awards for excellence in documentary and other informational film and video production, CINE will celebrate its first half-century in 2007. Founded in 1957 by a consortium representing business, education, and government to depict American life and thought realistically for a global audience, CINE continues to recognize and foster the highest quality of non-theatrical film and video production through its semi-annual competitions.
