2004 Republican National Convention . New York, NY
CHALLENGE: To program the convention, and nominate the President in the first post-911 election.
STRUCTURE: Format convention like a TV show. Make it entertaining and informative. Develop a strategy to address hot-button issues such as September 11 and the War in Iraq. Cast politicians, actors and citizens in keynote roles as telling the story of the Presidency - regardless of party affiliation. Frame the issues around Americans, not partisans.
EXECUTE: Convention gives the President up to a 12 point bounce in some polls. Widely regarded in the media as one of the most successful Conventions in history. Turning point in the election.
How do you tell the story of a Presidency?
- "The Pitch" -- We produced an award winning seven minute film that captures the first four years of the Bush presidency. Shown at the Republican convention immediately before the President's acceptance speech.
- The film struck a chord by addressing personal stories, some of them heartbreaking, all of them poignant reminders of how September 11th made us stronger.
The keynote Presidential film "The Pitch" produced by The Stevens and Schriefer Group, written by Peggy Noonan and narrated by Fred Thompson.
